This is my visual interpretation of a West African tale retold be Verna Aardema in her book called  “Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears”.

The story describes how a buzzing mosquito annoyed an iguana who in turn insulted a python who then frightened a rabbit.  And so it went until things got so bad that a lion had to mediate.

Everyone blamed the mosquito who goes on whining about it and can’t understand why everyone slaps at her.

Throughout the world fables found in one culture are similar to those in another showing us how much we have in common. This story is similar to one in Indonesia about a gecko who is always complaining.
