"Frog Considers the Dragonfly (Prey in the Garden series)"

As it rose smoothly to the still, glassy surface with a brilliant dragonfly in his sight Frog considered his choices and wondered. 

If he snatched the winged creature out of the air and swallowed, would he the frog, be transformed into something delicate and air borne or would the dragonfly just become frog-like.

In any case Frog saw that he couldn’t loose so he made his move.
But, too late, the flash of his tongue missed its prey by a wing’s breadth.
The winged one flickered away across water now sparked with movement.

Frog was left dangling.  His growing hunger began to insist that he
Mustn’t over-think consequences at the point of action.
