Here is yet another story about someone who longed to look different.

In this version Monkey’s wish comes true. As a lovely young woman she continually peers at herself in the mirror.  After awhile she finds fault with her new appearance and, hoping to become even more gorgeous, returns for a dip in the lake that had transformed her before.  

In she dove, and typically in the world of fables,  she emerged from the magic waters as the monkey she had been.
